According to him, “The commitment of the administration to ensuring the completion of this Awka NIPP 132KVA grid substation now provides a hitherto unavailable 70MW additional power capacity for driving industrial growth and boosting the economy of the state with positive knock on effect on employment and social-economic upliftment for residents of the state”.
NEWS Engineering’s construction of the substation will increase the spate of Industrialization in the state due to the fact that with improved power supply,, many industries will save cost of self-generation of electricity. “The Awka Township 33/11kV Injection Substation; the Agu Awka 2unit 15MVA 33/11kV Injection Substation serving the nearby Agu Awka Industrial Layout; the Enugu-Ukwu 33/11kV Injection Substation; the Aguleri/Umuleri 33/11kV Injection Substation; the New Anambra Airport; and the New Awka Millennium City.”
Mr Chinedu Ugbo noted that the substation which was designed and subsequently constructed by NEWS Engineering Nigeria Limited with two 60MVA Transformers, to step down power from the transmission grid at 132KV Level to 33KVA distribution level, as well as a vast array of switchgear and instrumentation transformers and allied equipment.
